Combie
Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Cozy Abode LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we", "us"), about your use of the Combie app. When you create an account, we ask you to tick a box agreeing to them; by doing so, or by using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Combie. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
1. Who can use Combie
You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account or make a purchase. Combie is not directed to children. Where your app store tells us you are under 18, we will not create an account or allow purchases. Younger family members may train alongside you under your supervision but may not hold an account.
2. Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@combieapp.com if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account.
3. Training a dog involves risk — please read this
Animals are unpredictable. Every dog is an individual animal whose behavior can't be fully predicted or controlled. Training, including the exercises in Combie, takes place around a living animal and can lead to bites, scratches, falls, leash injuries, escapes, fights with other animals, damage to property, or injury to you, your dog or other people and animals.
You take on that risk. You choose whether, where, when and how to do each exercise, and you take on the risks of doing so. To the fullest extent the law allows, you accept responsibility for your dog's behavior and for any harm it causes, during training or otherwise.
You're responsible for a safe training environment. Before each exercise, make sure the place and the situation are safe for you, your dog and everyone around you: use a secure leash, harness or fenced area where needed; keep a safe distance from traffic, other dogs, children and people who don't want contact; follow local leash, licensing, animal-control and public-space rules; watch for heat, cold and your dog's physical limits; and stop if your dog shows fear, stress, pain or aggression. Don't take a puppy into public places before your vet says it's safe. Do not attempt off-leash or dog-passing exercises with a dog that has shown aggression; consult a qualified professional instead.
Results aren't guaranteed. Dogs learn at different speeds, and results depend on your dog, your consistency and many things outside our control. Readiness suggestions, success rates and progress in the app are guides based on what you log; they don't certify that your dog will behave a certain way in any situation. We don't promise that your dog will learn any particular behavior, or by any date.
Not veterinary or behavioral-emergency advice — consult a professional. Combie, including the Coach, gives general, reward-based training guidance only. Combie is not a veterinarian or certified behaviorist and cannot diagnose or treat any condition. It is not veterinary, medical or behavioral-emergency advice, and it doesn't replace an in-person assessment. If your dog is ill, injured, in pain, has eaten something it shouldn't, shows sudden changes in behavior, anxiety or compulsive behavior, or has bitten or shown aggression toward people or animals, stop training and contact a veterinarian or a qualified behavior professional. In an emergency, contact an emergency veterinarian right away.
Who writes the lessons. Combie's lessons are written by the Combie team at Cozy Abode LLC, 3547 Dempster St #3100, Skokie, IL 60076.
4. The Coach
The Coach uses artificial intelligence to answer training questions. Coach answers are generated by artificial intelligence, are not reviewed by a person, and may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Do not rely on factual statements from the Coach without checking them independently. Use your own judgment, and follow section 3 above whatever the Coach says. The Coach won't answer health, injury or safety questions; it points you to a vet or behavior professional instead. Those safety referrals are free and do not count toward your daily question limit. Free accounts can ask 3 questions a day and The Full Guide 10; we may change these limits or pause the Coach for maintenance. Don't put anyone's name, address or phone number in a question.
5. The Full Guide, payments and renewals
What you buy. The Full Guide unlocks the paid lessons, the Yard, Street and Park columns of your progress chart, and more Coach questions each day, plus updates to those lessons and features. It doesn't include add-ons we may sell separately later. The free lessons stay free.
Plans. Prices are shown in the app next to each purchase button, before you buy. There is no free trial.
Automatic renewal. Yearly and Monthly are subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel. Yearly renews every year and Monthly every month, at the price shown when you subscribed, charged by Apple to your Apple ID. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date: in the app, Account → Cancel from the app; or on your iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Before you subscribe, you agree to the automatic renewal separately, by ticking a box next to the purchase button.
Lifetime access. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew. It gives you The Full Guide for as long as we offer Combie on the platform where you bought it. If Combie is transferred to another company, that company will honor your purchase.
Apple is the seller of record. Purchases are made through your Apple ID and charged by Apple, and Apple's terms for purchases apply. Apple handles cancellations and refunds: you can cancel from Account → Cancel from the app, and request a refund from Account → Request a refund. Apple decides refund requests.
Reminders. Before a subscription renews, we send you a reminder by email and in the app with the renewal date, the amount, the date to cancel by and how to cancel: 35 and 7 days before a yearly renewal; 7 days before each monthly renewal, plus, for a monthly plan, a yearly reminder about 35 days before each anniversary of when it started. After you subscribe, we also email you a confirmation of the renewal terms and how to cancel. We work hard to deliver every email, but email delivery can fail; your plan, its price and its renewal date are always shown in Account and in your Apple settings.
Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, existing subscribers keep their current price unless we tell you otherwise by email and in the app 14 to 30 days before the new price is charged. You can cancel before then, and Apple will ask for your agreement where the law or its rules require it.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you put into the app — your dog's details and photo, your session notes and your Coach questions. You give us permission to store, use and process it only to run Combie for you, as the Privacy Policy describes. Only add photos and text you have the right to use.
7. Our content and your license
The lessons, illustrations (including Scout), text, design and software in Combie belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by Apple's Usage Rules, for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, sell, rent, redistribute or publish the lessons or illustrations; reverse-engineer the app; get around the way paid content is unlocked; scrape or overload our service; or use the app in a way that breaks the law or harms anyone.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using Combie and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we'll tell you when we reasonably can. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription — cancel it with Apple first. If we decide to stop offering Combie on a platform, we will give at least 90 days' notice in the app and by email, and will stop selling Lifetime access from the date of notice. Sections 3, 9, 10, 11 and 13 continue after your use ends.
9. Disclaimer
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived. To the fullest extent the law allows, Combie is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that the app will always be available, error-free or that it will meet your needs. Some places don't allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of this may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury to people or animals, damage to property, veterinary costs, or loss of data, arising from your use of the app, the Coach, or the training you do, even if we were told such loss was possible. Our total liability for all claims relating to Combie is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Combie in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. This section does not limit our liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Your responsibility to us
Except where prohibited by law, you will indemnify us for third-party claims arising from your breach of these terms or your violation of law.
12. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Combie or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it; for support, contact us at support@combieapp.com. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app (if any); to the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to the app or your use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer-protection or privacy claims, and claims that the app or your use of it infringes someone else's intellectual property. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile carrier's. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Disputes
Illinois law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that you keep the protection of mandatory laws where you live. Before suing, please email support@combieapp.com and allow 30 days for us to try to resolve the issue informally; deadlines for bringing a claim are paused during that period. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court. Otherwise, the state courts in Cook County, Illinois, or the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois have jurisdiction, unless your local law gives you the right to sue where you live.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. For material changes — to price, renewal, dispute resolution, liability, how we use your data, or Lifetime access — we will notify you in the app and by email at least 30 days in advance and ask you to accept. If you don't accept, you may stop using Combie and cancel your subscription. Other changes take effect when posted, and we'll update the date below.
15. General
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't given up the right to do so later. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger or sale of the business, and whoever takes them on must honor Lifetime access. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Combie.
